Bytetools

Bytetools

My name is Tait Hoyem, and I created Bytetools to address one problem: Blind individuals do not have access to the same resources as their classmates, especially when it comes to advanced diagrams used in upper level management, computer science and engineering degrees. Even if they do eventually get access to the slides used in class, they are often weeks behind the given lecture.

My goal is to address this in two ways:

  1. Create a fast transcription service that will get blind students their slides, textbooks, etc. When they need them. No later.
  2. Create a diagram creation tool that will be able to create accessible diagrams and charts so that students don’t have to accept merely a description of a map, or an auditory telling of the picture.

Our first goal has already become a reality. Contact us if you think you could use help with your slides, textbooks, or diagrams. We will work with you and your educational institution to get you your resources on time!

This second goal, the diagram creation tool is in its early stages, and is not in production yet. If you are a developer, and would like to contribute to this project, contact us or check out our git.
